The Shreveport Mayor’s Women’s Commission is seeking nominations for the HERA Award. Three HERA awards will be presented to honor unsung heroes who have made a positive difference in Shreveport in the areas of advocacy, education, and quality of life. The awards recognize the recipients' untiring and selfless volunteer efforts to be helpful, effective, and responsible advocates for Shreveport women and youth.
Criteria for the awards include:
Has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to volunteerism
Is a positive influence in meeting community needs or enhancing the quality of life in Shreveport
Has demonstrated acts of generosity and kindness
Embraces community service as an outgoing commitment
Contributions should have been made within the past 12 months, as well as ongoing efforts which demonstrate a depth of commitment
Promotes and/or advances public understanding about important community issues/concerns
Demonstrates high standards of character and moral standing
Fosters coordination and cooperation among diverse audiences and stakeholders in the community and promotes unity

The HERA Awards are, at the Shreveport Convention Center-Red River Room, 400 Caddo St. This will be the seventh annual presentation of the awards by Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler and the Shreveport Mayor's Women's Commission. Please check back for time and date.
