Scope Of Responsibility

The division oversees Risk Management, which encompasses various areas such as the Property/Casualty Insurance Program (including General Liability for Aviation, Law Enforcement, and Fire), Auto Liability, Employee Dishonesty, the Risk Management Committee, Defensive Driving Course, Safety and Accident Review Board, the Workers’ Compensation Program, and New Hire-Orientation.

Customer Service

Ensuring excellent internal and external customer service for our employees is crucial. Meeting both their needs and our statutory obligations remains a top priority.

Insurance / Self-Insured

The City of Shreveport’s Property and Casualty Programs employ a mix of self-insurance coverage and commercial insurance coverage to address specific risks. As part of this responsibility, the division develops Request for Proposals (RFPs) with detailed specifications and evaluates each proposal to identify the most comprehensive coverage at the best price, ensuring effective protection for the city.

Staffing

Risk Management staff members are encouraged and supported in continuous training and education. This commitment ensures that they maintain proficiency and competency in the field of Risk Management.
