Meet the Chief
CHIEF SCOTT WOLVERTON
Fire Chief Scott Wolverton was born and raised in Union, MS and graduated Union High School in 1985. He attended college for one year at East Central Junior College and then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1986 serving his country on active duty and active reserve as a Security Police Officer till 1992 at Barksdale Air Force Base. He began serving on the Shreveport Fire Department in 1993 and has served as a Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Training Officer, Chief of Special Operations and Safety and Fire Chief. He was appointed Fire Chief for the Shreveport Fire Department on February 20, 2015. He has an Associate of Applied Science in EMT: Paramedic and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Organizational Management. He is also an Executive Fire Officer Graduate from the National Fire Academy.
He holds many certifications and has completed several professional development courses through the Fire Department Safety Officer’s Association, Pro Board Accreditation, Louisiana State University-Fire and Emergency Training Institute, and the Fire Service Executive Development Institute. He is an active member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC); Southwest Division of the IAFC; Metro Chiefs Division of the IAFC; Safety, Health and Survival Section of the IAFC; and the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association.
He has been married to his wife Becky for 27 years and they have four sons and one daughter. Joshua, 26; Stephen, 24; Aaron, 22; and Joey, 8; and Hope, 2. He also has two granddaughters ages four and two. He enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, yard work, and is a big fan of the New Orleans Saints Football Team.
