The City of Shreveport Internal Audit Office (IAO) follows government auditing standards in carrying out its work. These standards are established by the United States Government Accountability Office. One of these standards requires the IAO undergo an external peer review. The purpose of this review is to determine whether the office has established an internal quality control system that is suitably designed and effectively operating to provide reasonable assurance of compliance with the standards. An independent peer review team appointed by the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA) found the IAO has conducted its work in full compliance with government auditing standards for the period January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015. We believe we are the only municipal internal audit office in Louisiana that has successfully completed this type of peer review. In order to ensure our continuing audit excellence, the IAO office will undergo this peer review process every three years.
