Free Smoke Alarm Program

The Shreveport Fire Department provides free smoke alarms for residents of the City of Shreveport.

The owner of the house in which the smoke alarm(s) are requested to be installed must meet the following criteria:

  • Reside within the city limits of Shreveport and be 65 years of age or older

OR

  • Receive one of the following:
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
    • Veteran Disability Benefits
